Seeking General Dentist

General Dentist (New Haven, CT)

1) Provide professional dentistry services to patients of all ages, adhering to federal and CT state law regarding dental practice, using independent judgment;

2) Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, malformations of teeth and gums and related oral structures;

3) Review patient’s medical history;

4) Examine and assess patient, chart all pathologic conditions and report these to patient;

5) Develop written treatment plan with all options explained to patient;

6) Hold informed consent discussion with patient, and document consent;

7) Perform dental procedures, including amalgam fillings, composite fillings, crowns and bridges, root canal treatment, surgical extractions, scaling, cosmetic composite restorations, and sealants and fluoride applications for children;

8) Administer local anesthesia;

9) Prescribe medicine for patients;

10) Take impressions, measurements and adjustments for dentures;

11) Clean teeth and provide preventive dental care, including educating patient in oral and dental hygiene;

12) Participate in quality assurance for dental practice;

13) Supervise one dental hygienist and two dental assistants;

14) Supervise taking of x-rays;

15) Practice according to OSHA guidelines and standards and comply with HIPAA regulations regarding confidentiality of patient information.

This position requires a D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree from an accredited school of dentistry and a license to practice dentistry in Connecticut. This position also requires ability to perform each general dentistry duty satisfactorily. This position requires at least one-year experience and the ability to use judgment and make independent decisions. The position is 40 hours per week, 9:00 am to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
