GENERAL DENTIST (New Haven, CT):

Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional dentistry services to patients of all ages, adhering to federal and CT state law regarding dental practice, using independent judgment;
  • Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, malformations of teeth and gums and related oral structures;
  • Review patient’s medical history;
  • Examine and assess patient, chart all pathologic conditions and report these to patient;
  • Develop written treatment plan with all options explained to patient;
  • Hold informed consent discussion with patient, and document consent;
  • Perform dental procedures, including amalgam fillings, composite fillings, crowns and bridges, root canal treatment, surgical extractions, scaling, cosmetic composite restorations, and sealants and fluoride applications for children;
  • Administer local anesthesia;
  • Prescribe medicine for patients;
  • Take impressions, measurements and adjustments for dentures;
  • Clean teeth and provide preventive dental care, including educating patient in oral and dental hygiene;
  • Participate in quality assurance for dental practice;
  • Supervise one dental hygienist and two dental assistants;
  • Supervise taking of x-rays;
  • Practice according to OSHA guidelines and standards and comply with HIPAA regulations regarding confidentiality of patient information.

Requirements/ Experience:

  • This position requires a D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree from an accredited school of dentistry and a license to practice dentistry in Connecticut.
  • This position also requires ability to perform each general dentistry duty satisfactorily.
  • This position requires at least one-year experience and the ability to use judgment and make independent decisions.
  • The position is 40 hours per week, 9:00 am to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
